2015 Fall Forum: Teaching Through Civic Engagement

The theme of the 2015 Fall Forum on Teaching and Learning—“Teaching Through Civic Engagement: Doing Good Well”—reflected the university’s core value of service to others and the oft-quoted exhortation from St. Vincent DePaul, “It is not enough to do good; it must be done well.”

Keynote Speaker: Barbara Jacoby

At the 2015 Fall Forum on Teaching and Learning, faculty and staff:

  • defined civic engagement and what it means to their institutions and disciplines
  • explained and critically reflected on DePaul’s position in the local and national landscape in terms of civic engagement
  • learned how to implement best practices for civic engagement in both their teaching and research
  • identified resources at DePaul for incorporating civic engagement in their teaching and research
